Viraneh, the Iranian News Magazine: Tehran fears for U.S. attacks ================================================================================ admin on 10 June, 2008 02:40:00 Because of Iran´s dispute against the US-Iraqi security agreements, Iraq Premier Nuri al Maliki has assured officials during a meeting in Tehran on Sunday that American bases in Iraq would never be used to attack Iran. Maliki met on Sunday with the Iranian vice president, Parviz Davoudi, to offer the assurances to Iranian. He also assured, that Iraq´s politics won´t be against any neighbor countries. Maliki said that the "stability and security of Iraq will have a positive influence on the entire region. “Mottaki also assured Iran´s goal is a friendly relations between the two countries. The reason of Maliki´s meeting in Tehran on Sunday was only the resent military agreements between Iraq and the U.S. because it will regulate the U.S. military presence in Iraq. President George W. Bush and Maliki had agreed in November, the agreement should be signed until the end of July 2007. This agreement will regulate the U.S. presence in Iraq through the end of 2008 since the current UN mandate expires. Iran had criticized the agreement several times in the past. According to the "Gulf News" from Dubai, the U.S. army will be able to attack any country from Iraq, which threats the international stability in the region. Tehran fears according to this agreement that U.S. troops will have a legal basis to move from Iraq to Iran. At the weekend died 17 innocent Iraqis with Al-Qaeda suicide bombers. Also 50 people were injured. 13 people were arrested because of that attack.
